Default several questions (hacmp, san, nis/ldap)

- HACMP seems very complex to setup and maintain. What does it do
for you that some shell scripts would not? Seems the only thing
that it does is present known code for doing heartbeats across
various media and known code for IP aliasing and IP takeover.

- Given that I have *lots* of ssa disk, to setup the applications
such that they have application IP addresses that can move from
one server to another, and the current server mounts the application
filesystems and resources, etc., is there a way to take all
this ssa disk and make it available through the SAN fabric
(like a low-ball Shark)?

- I've not been comfortable with NIS, it's method of serving
encrypted passwords to multiple platoforms, etc. Is anyone using
NIS across AIX and Linux? How do you share the /etc/security/*
files?
