VIPA is a virtual interface on your system .
To get benefice of VIPA, some physical interfaces must be configured too .

..
"Clients" systems access VIPA adress across one of above physical interfaces
(it depends of the routing configuration) .
If this interface fails, a new routing must be configured on client pointing
to
one of the remaining non-failing interface .This can be done using GATED ,
static route ...
