The only place where I can see a benefit to virus scanning on UNIX systems
is when you have a UNIX box serving as a fileserver or mailserver for a PC
LAN environment. Even then it tenuous at best. Besides, we've been using
M$ 2003 server with XP clients for the PCs and its pretty stable - so our PC
LAN is over there, and our UNIX systems are over here and they hardly ever
talk to each other. But as you said - the customer doesn't agree.
