All bets are off if you use an unsupported release. I'm surprised
Sun Ray even comes this close to working on JDS R1.

Sun Ray, even at beta, should present the regular desktop for whatever
platform it's running on. If it doesn't do that when running on a
supported release then that's a serious bug. (It might be a bug in
the platform rather than in Sun Ray itself, but it's still a bug.)
