And subsequently lost/forgot the root passwords.
If they're set up to listen to a NIS server, you can always add in a
semi-bogus account, with UID=0.
Login with that, and *poof* you are root.
(of course, that requires that they're configured to listen for NIS
server, and that you can provide one that you control)
