But note the externals are Compaq, not Sun. He gave me a couple of
Compaq 36GB disks which I have never managed to get working in an SS20,
despite the fact I have used disks from Sun, Seagate, IBM, HP and others
in the Sun, all without problems. Compaq disks and my SS20 do not get on
together. But they seemed OK at first in his T1, but perhaps now are
presenting problems.

He does not have another controller card, but I have a one I could loan
him (dual Sun one).

However, he does have another T1, which he wants to give to me so I can
learn about it and help him. The 'lom' thing I don't understand. I'm
only a home user, with my best box being a U80.

I don't know, as I have not seen any of it. I suspect it might be a bit
more than an simple external SCSI box, but I don't know.

I've managed to get it to the point where it will reboot properly
without human intervention, by commenting out the entry in /etc/vfstab
of a file system that is clearly corrupt. But whilst it boots OK now,
there are still SCSI errors, so the problem needs addressing.
