Are BOTH ends of the link set to autonegotiate? Did they negotiate to
the same speed and duplex? If BOTH show as 100/full you have eliminated
speed/duplex errors as a problem.

I hope you didn't do anything REALLY stupid like wrapping a few turns of
the cable around a fluorescent light or a big tranformer. :-)
