I really wonder what gfx Your C180 has since all gfx cards of these days had
EVC which looks similar like today's DVI...

Well, You didn't mention the gfx card or the model of monitor You're using,
but this effect can be because the card actually is set to a
resolution/refresh rate Your monitor can handle. All cards that work in the
C180 do separate sync just fine so it't certainly not a
sync-on-green-Problem. What You need to do is to set the gfx to a resolution
Your monitor supports.

If You switch on the workstation watch the keyboard LEDs (the ones for NUM
LOCK, SHIFT LOCK and SCROLL LOCK). If the keyboard gets initialized these
LEDs flash up for a short time. When they flash up immediately press the TAB
key and keep it pressed. The machine now cycles through all available
resolutions/refresh rates and holds everyone of them for several seconds. If
the monitor is able to sync to one of these resolutions You'll see a message
stating to press ENTER to keep this setting.
