Hmm. Never thought of that. I assumed that the porting centers were a
hobbyist effort, for other hobbyists.

But then, there is always the possibility build the stuff yourself. At
least gcc should be able to build itself out of sheer nothingness.

Most binaries weren't binaries at first.
