If you have OnlineJFS installed on your system (and if your /tmp is not
strictly contiguous, which is more than probable), you can simply do this :
# lvextend -L total_size /dev/vg00/lvol4 (assuming your /tmp is the mount
point of lvol4)
# fsadm -b (total_size*1024) /tmp
