Hi,

At the beginning of the installation process you are asked to nominate
graphic or text installation.

At this stage there is a third option - 640x480 installation (F3).

When I did a RH9 installation I found that the installation process
couldn't provide a suitable video output for hires graphic or text
mode (as shown in the log). I was forced to use the lowres
installation path and later adjust the video parameters through
hardware setup for a higher resolution display.

Note:-
I had previously run KNOPPIX (3.2?) on this system and it had worked
reasonably well so it was just a RH9 installation issue.

(Note ASUS TUSL-M all in one motherboard, 256 MB shared RAM)

As Michael Heiming stated RH9 is past the end of support and has been
replaced by the Fedora project (at Fedora 2, soon to be 3)

With regard to RH9, its age is showing with a number of packages
needing refreshing to deal with newer hardware.

For RH9 support try <http://www.fedoralegacy.org/>
