Explorer-like file manager
Does anyone have an recommendations for Linux file managers (I'm running
Slackware 10 / KDE 3) that:
a) can show a tree view of the filesystem in a left-hand pane
b) show a *detailed* list of files & subdirectories in a right-hand pane
in a column type layout
c) support expected behaviour for dragging files / directories around,
deleting, copying etc.
I certainly don't need the program to function as a web browser (eg.
Konqueror) - I've got a good web browser for browsing the web, thanks :-)
Both Konqueror and Gnome's offering seemed far too warm and fuzzy (And I
can't immediately see a way of doing the tree view / directory view panes
in konqueror). What I'm after is the sort of detail I'd get doing an 'ls
-l' from a shell but with the convenience of being able to drag data
around, perform operations such as delete on multiple selections within a
directory etc.
Note that I don't even necessarily need to launch applications by
double-clicking on a file; I'm more interested in something that'll make
it easy to do general filesystem housekeeping functions and nothing more.
Any ideas? Windows Explorer with 'show hidden files' and set to detailed
view is about what I need, just for Linux :-)
cheers!
