I am setting up a RH 9.0 system and have managed to get it to a point where
it will boot from diskette but not from the hard disk!!!!

In the hard disk boot it just displays "GRUB" on the screen and thats it!

I presume the MBR is OK as I guess that is where the "GRUB" is coming from
(the boot loader). After that I expect it can't find the /boot partition so
as to load the grub.conf etc. This may be so but why does the floppy disk
boot with no problems at all? Is it less dependent on the partition table
than a hard disk based boot?

Any ideas on what to check? What are the differences between diskette and
hard disk based boot sequences?
