OK I am not sure what model of cable modem you have, I have a Motorla
Surfboard, and a Linksys Wireless/Wired router. I did not have to do any
configuring to the modem or router to get my networking working. I just
plugged my cable modem in, waited for it to get it's IP address from my
ISP. I then plugged the cable modem into the router (Make sure you use
the Router cable), then turned on the router. My ethernet card(Wireless)
is set for DHCP. Turned on laptop and it connected to the internet no
problem.
