We had the same problem (taking a drive from a 55A and trying to put
it into a 550). We eventually opened a call with IBM and were told
that the 55A drives are not supported on 550s (there's apparently a
hardware compatibility website somewhere that says just that).

Strangely, the 55A drive does work on our older B80 servers.
