The 'shut down' text is not in the standard message catalogs
for either the aix 4.3 ftp client or the aix 4.3 ftpd server:

dspcat ftp

dspcat ftpd

so someone either put a customized ftpd server or
message catalog on aixhost2. Find that person
and consider homicide instead of suicide.
