Removing hard drives has always been less than obvious in OSR5. There
are TA's that deal with this, but of course they don't reference USB
drives specifically.

On the other hand, does it matter? Unless you try to access the device
node for the non-existent drive, no harm will come from having it
defined. So take it out of /etc/fstab and don't worry about it.
