Default Re: Logins and serial transfers on same wire

| Hi,
|
| I know I've got this working before, just can't remember
| how. Hopefully one of you can jog my memory.
|
| We have a Unix system (OS507) connected to a PC via their serial
| ports ie. COM1 to /dev/tty1a. We communicate using Kermit to send and
| receive files over that 3-wire cable.
|
| Now we want to use the same cable to login to unix - I need to setup
| the serial port to run a getty, but somehow disable the getty when
| it's time to run communcations.

Why do you weant to disable the port? I leave my serial ports enabled at
all times, and it is never a probem to use them outbound with cu, xc,
kermit, uucp, whatever...
