FWIW, I use 3.0 -> 3.4 on compaq proliants with smart2p smart2d smart2h
and 3200 controllers. Later Proliants, ie PII 450 upwards work well,
earlier models may need 3.4 to avoid lockups with the smartarray
controllers.
