As a final note, I just got tired of the A7N8X Deluxe and switched to an
Asus A7V8X-X. It runs like a dream, OpenBSD just works out of the box
and... well it works!

I am kind of sorry that I couldn't solve the issues with the Cardbus
controller and the ICU, but frankly, I don't mind paying 56 euros to
have some peace of mind.
If anybody wants a good mobo which works impeccably on OpenBSD for the
price of a good meal at a restaurant, Asus A7V8X-X!
