Debian is not BSD in ANY WAY.. many people get tired of people
comparing the two.

Debian may have been doing enough stuff in the background to avoid the
APM from kicking in. I dunno if that's what debian does, but Open is
acting differently.

Don't stress yourself over why.. just fix the problem. Get into BIOS,
and DISABLE any power management.

You'll be working sweet then.
