it's probably hotplug trying to load this module while you don't have the
device it's for. IIRC the way to stop hotplug from trying is to put the
driver in /etc/hotplug/blacklist.

Slackware doesn't have any quirks. Other distros have quirks. Slackware's
just pure Linux.
