I don't necessarily have a solution; I would just like you to know that
support for IDE cards is supported out of the box. I have 2 models of
Promise cards, one type of Silicon Image, and some Highpoints. All of
these work seamlessly with the stock install of Slack (at least 9.0 & 9.1).
