I similarly have a Promise ide pci card. Worked perfectly on the stock
Slackware kernel (2.4.20 - 2.4.24). It seems to me that something like
that would HAVE to be compiled into the kernel, rather than loaded as a
module at boot time. Just my two cents. Sorry I don't have anything more
helpful to say...
