This is kind of spooky in light of recent threads about "what if.."

But I almost posted last week that if anything happened to Patrick, it
would be far more significant that something happened to Patrick than
that it might impact on Slackware. That's the balance of having a (near)
one man operation; the operation may fail, but there is an
individual who has some identity and a sense of familiarity. Nobody
wonders what happens if a head of a big corporation should die becaues
in part that person is just a nameless head of the corporation. Any
big corporation, and we wouldn't be getting such a personal message about
his health.

Let's not forget at this time that Patrick is a big fan of the Grateful
Dead (and one might argue Country Joe and the Fish, since that message
clearly makes an oblique reference to them).
