umm... because Gnome has cooties or needs to be deloused maybe, both
Linus Torvalds & Patrick Volkerding wont touch Gnome anymore and have
bad mouthed Gnome in the recent past & removed it from a certain distro
(since 10.2), maybe they are trying to give the Gnome developers a whap
on the head with a cluestick, :P

personally i have not liked gnome since 1.4 was current && using sawfish
