Q: what are you hoping to get out of LDAP? If you're planning to do
authentication from Slackware clients, then you need a few things:
--At least one LDAP server; you can either build from source or modify a
SlackBuild for this (I think it's just a configure switch).
--The nss_ldap libraries from padl.com on all the clients. You'll need
to do this yourself, as it's not a standard Slackware package. The
default configuration options are generally sufficient.
You should probably search the newsgroup archives for more on LDAP; I
and others have written more extensively about it in the past.
