The problem was that I run kernel 2.6.x now. I discovered that there
is a patch in OO-1.1.0-r1 to allow for 2.6.x kernels but I didn't know
that when I posted.

I just used kernel 2.4.x to compile OO and it all worked fine. (It runs
okay under kernel 2.6.x, it just doesn't compile.)
