Just follow it to the letter, except where you can't do something.
Running 'mirrorselect' won't work from a non-gentoo system, but you'll
be able to install without. Once you chroot to /mnt/gentoo, it won't
make any difference.

I haven't done it any other way.

The problem with the world is stupidity. Not saying there should be a
capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the
safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
