Just wondering-- do you want help or do you just want to complain?
In the former case as Johannes says, information is needed.
You say the booting message says you have an ATA drive. What is that
message? What do you mean /dev/hda exists? As a file? That is probably
irrelevant. What is the relevant content of dmesg?

You admit you do not know what is going on. Why do you feel that you are
then able to interpret the messages?

hda is the first drive on the first ide controller (the master) Do you have
a master drive on the first ide controller? What error messages do you get?
