Check /etc/make.conf to make sure xinerama is listed in the USE flag. If
not, add it and re-emerge gdm. I recently did an emerge and noticed it
wasn't using G77 the fortran compiler for GCC even though I originally had
f77 in the USE flag. Don't know how it got out of there but putting it back
worked.
