Esd seems to work fine for me while artsd was quite poo. Alsa is good
and fast but not for multiplexed sound. I have fiddled around with jackd
and it is truly awesome from a performance/latency p.o.v. but even the
devs reckon it's just still too experimental to use and not have fairly
major problems.
So I'm just using esd until some smart person gets jackd working safely.
At least the days of redhat 8 and terrible sound are over. |
