I recently decided to install Gnome for a play. I did 'emerge gnome' and
it went off and installed loads of stuff. When trying to start it it
gets as far as the splash screen then I get two bars one at the top, the
other at the bottom of the screen which flash on and off. I have to kill
X to get out of the loop. Where would I find any errors reported? I have
checked in /var/log/current/everything and in Xorg logs.
