Default Re: Multicard reader on Gentoo ??

It seems that if I put the card in the reader, and look at dmesg, I get

SCSI device sdd: 960512 512-byte hdwr sectors (492 MB)
sdd: Write Protect is off
sdd: Mode Sense: 03 00 00 00
sdd: assuming drive cache: write through
sdd: sdd1
FAT: bogus number of reserved sectors
VFS: Can't find a valid FAT filesystem on dev sdd.

VFS: Can't find a valid FAT filesystem on dev sdd.

But the card came formatted from Sony. I don't want to mkfs it, afraid of my
Sony Ericcson phone not being able to read the card anymore.
