Gentoo does not have any version.
If you need a more recent boot media that supports more recent hardware,
there are already plenty to choose from, e.g. sysresccd or hardy heron.
If you need a more recent stage3 tarball to save upgrade time after
initial install, there are several to choose from, D. Robbins's being the
most famous.
