I am gradually navigating through Oracle documentation. My knowledge of
RAC is poor, though I have used clusters and Oracle before.

I mentioned sub-nets in case someone has ideas about virtual IPs,
network hearbeats and such. Isn't a high speed interconnect required
for data cache syncing?
