The Thinkpad 770 has a modem. Sometimes, quite cheap, you can find one on Craigslist. It works with Linux (but, some tweaking is necessary). It's an older computer; so, a full blown (kde/gnome) desktop is not recommended. Mark -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-REQUEST@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? That's not a modem in the 770, it's another sound card with the wrong connector (ie, a "winmodem"). Google verifies this. It can't modulate or demodulate on it's own, it has to offload it to software running on the main CPU: Pretty close to the exact opposite of a modem. -- Paul Johnson baloo@ursine.ca -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) iEYEABECAAYFAkhrFSsACgkQA22gUiMA/PwdIACffNQNXA/4gRgFAosozvzSdvOV YecAn10mPz4pq6fTwOhBVPRY2/YTD5Bn =+PI6 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |
