Default ASUS A8V-E SE Board

I am trying to install a copy of debian on an ASUS A8V-E SE board -- it
doesn't recognize the ethernet controller (Marvell Yukon). In gathering
information it looks like I will have to buid a complete system and recomile
the kernel to achieve this goal. Does anyone have a shortcut?

Thanks in advance!

Joe

I have the Asus P5LD2 motherboard which has the Marvell Yukon ethernet
controller. I found that you need a 2.6.16 kernel (Testing) to utilize the
Sky2 driver which will enable the controller. Plus be aware that there are
problems with the Sky2 driver. I've found that only the stock 2.6.16-2
kernel works. The SMP version does not. But the developer is aware of the
problem and trying to solve it. For what it's worth both CentOS and Ubuntu
do work.

Update. Just installed 2.6.17-2 kernel, again Testing, and it seems to
work perfectly plus it gives SMP without asking. Ethernet working fine.
Again, all this with an Intel P4 on an ASUS motherboard.
