| I have what I think is an odd problem running testing with kernal 2.6.x. If I place a data CD or movie DVD in my drive it is found and I can mount it with no problem. When I put in an audio CD however it is not seen. None of the players or music rippers (grip or cdparanoia) find the disk. Is there some step I have missed? |

From what I've been reading, they won't play (I stopped buying CDs because the manufacturers don't always tell you if they are copy protected or not, so I can't test this)! Have you tried this with an audio CD that you know is NOT copy protected? |

If you do not mount (no automounter), it should play. I never had a problem. |

I ripped this CD once before for my portable player so I know it should work. I believe the permissions are correct. I do not have the cdplay package but the other cd players I have fail to find the disk or come back with drive error. |

A ROM and a burner. At some point I robbed it of the ROM for another machine and left the burner. For some reason, even with the links pointing to the proper drive and proper permissions set something would just not accept the hdd instead of hdc. I put the ROM drive back in as hdc and now all is well. Strange |
