Default Installed 3D-chess, now where is it?

Debian Etch gnome

Please tell me what I am missing.
I installed a few things found under "chess" with
synaptic. Now I cannot find any chess under games or
anywhere else.
I suppose "gnome-chess" or "3dchess" are chess games right?

Right-click in synaptic on the package and select properties in the menu.
In the pop-up dialog go to "Installed Files" and look for files in
/usr/bin

Try the 'run' command.

Thank you, I found something.
Now I have to figure out how it works :-)

And now I expect you'll really want to find out how to add them to
appropriate menus.

I recall that some of the chess programs do not show up in the menu
automagically. I'm using Lenny/Gnome and when I installed eboard I ended
up putting a launcher button on the panel manually.

If you want to tell me that would be nice too.
But first I need to find a good graphical chess
program. I did not spent much time in it yet
( very busy ) but I only managed to get one playing
by giving me the coordinates of a move.
That is not what I a looking for.
Unless someone shows me such a game I will try that,
if not, I will look at it later.

If I remember correctly, the game 3dchess is not what you need. Try
brutalchess or pouetchess, or pychess.

aptitude install eboard
aptitude install xboard

Both of those should pull in gnuchess as well, and both will operate as
FICS clients.
