| Hello, http://www.linux-magazin.de/meldung/12836 > TÜV zertifiziert Münchens LiMUX-Client > 16.05.2007 > Das Münchner LiMux-Projekt kann einen Erfolg verbuchen: Die Prüfstelle der TÜV Informationstechnik hat dem Linux-Client der Stadt München offiziell seine Anwenderfreundlichkeit bestätigt. I put the article through babelfish, and it seems important. Naturally the translation is far from perfect. > TUEV certifies Munich LiMUX Client > 16.05.2007 > Resident of Munich the LiMux project can achieve a success: The inspection station of the TUEV information technology confirmed officially its user comfort to the Linux Client of the city Munich. Could some people work to translate this article to English? Matt |

The google language tool is pretty fair: http://translate.google.com/translat...as_qdr%3D all or http://snipr.com/20v8m "The Munich-LiMux project can be a success: The testing of TÜV information technology, the Linux client of the City of Munich officially confirmed its user-friendliness." An advantage to the googletranslator is that if you are familiar at all with the language, you can mouse over the text and see the original language version. Between seeing the googletranslation and the original, you can make your own more accurate translation. Or rather your own more comfortable or idiomatic translate. However, if you want to find out some things about LiMux, I would start with the wikipedia article and then connect to all of the references and external links, which are in .en http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limux LiMux is a project in Munich for migrating 14,000 personal computers and laptops of public employees to free software concerning 16,000 users. LiMux is the largest deployment of Linux and OpenOffice.org in the public sector so far, and this symbolic value turned it into one of the world's highest profile migration projects. -- The migration of 80 percent of the users is expected to be complete late-2008 to mid-2009. The linux-magazine.de article is just a press conference back in 2007 May -- Mike Easter |

That would require the permission of Linux New Media, as the article is "© 2007Linux New Media AG". In essence, what it says is that an official testing body (TÜV) has certified that the Linux client software of the LiMux project is user-friendly. The LimUx project was set up to migrate the public administration of the German city of Munich to Linux. HTH, Josef -- These are my personal views and not those of Fujitsu Siemens Computers! Maybe I'll just use babelfish or translate.google.com. Apparently they have permission to translate not only the page in question, but every page on the web. > In essence, what it says is that an official testing body (TÜV) has > certified that the Linux client software of the LiMux project is > user-friendly. > > The LimUx project was set up to migrate the public administration of the > German city of Munich to Linux. > > HTH, Yeah right. > > Josef |
