Default Open Office blues

When I attempt to use Open Office I get (calc example) thesplash screen,
and sometimes it appears to start but fails to respond.

Sleeping
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/oostart

Sleeping
/bin/sh /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice -calc -splash pipe=5

Sleeping
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin -calc -splash-pipe=5

What are the common configuration errors, etc. that cause OO to not work?

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
Have you tried killing all the procs and then executing the command
with the -nologo option from a console?

Had to the delete my user's .openoffice* folder when a newer version released to
have the newer version function properly. You might try renaming any
..openoffice* folders you have, issue the command I mentioned, and see how things
go. Also, now this was like 2 years ago, when I had a 64bit OS calc would load
but wouldn't do any calculations ... putting 32bit OS on this 64bit mobo and all
was good tho'.

The only way to make Windows "secure":
1) go to http://goodbye-microsoft.com
2) replace existing operating system.
