The Debian instructions, though now out of date still largely
applicable, are at:

http://installation.openoffice.org/s...=dev&msgNo=609

which links from:

Following these hints
<http://installation.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=609>,
you can get the RPMs to install in a Debian system.

Don't know about Open 2, but you can create .debs from .rpms with
'alien'.

this article may provide an answer to this
http://software.newsforge.com/softwa...4.shtml?tid=93

to sum up, oo.o 2.0 uses java, and that is not free or oss. That is
causing problems.

1/
Official debian developper pre-releases (with java or not) :
http://people.debian.org/~halls/openoffice/test/

or just add in /etc/apt/sources.list :
deb http://people.debian.org/~halls/open...t/ooo1.9-java/ ./
deb http://people.debian.org/~halls/open...ooo1.9-nojava/ ./

2/
Unofficial beta- and localized releases (installs in /opt):
http://ftp.linux.cz/pub/localization...org/devel/680/

I use SRC680_m100 (fr localized) without any problem since 1 month.
Just saw there was SRC680_m105.

Try it.
Have fun.
Use google ;-)

If you are using "Debian" try the tools and if you lock for install extra
applications :

apt-get (console)
dselect (console)
aptitude (console)
synaptic (GUI)
Kpackage (GUI)

There are a lots of pre-packaged applications that waiting that you install
it, more than +- 15.000, it's realy good stuff.

There also Openoffice in Debian prepackaged.

Sorry for bad english writing, try to help

You can transform rpm packet into deb packet with the alien tool. You
must install alien with your favorite packet manager and in console type
alien packet.rpm
alien write some lines et after you have transformed packet in
packet.deb. You have to install it like an original debian packet.
exuse my poor english
