| hi there... just tried to install debia woody on an ibm thinkpad 755. works smooth, I am impressed (first deban install, I usually use SuSE...). However I cannot get X to start, the server compains about an invalid hsync rate. Has anyone got a valid XFree86 config file a can start with? Or is there a utility to detect the physical graphics card to get me going? cheers, arkascha |

I think have do some mistakes while configuring. I have selected during setup the VGA adapter, but i am geek, it's a Nvidea. Now the problem is that the resolution are fixed on max 640x480. Ok, it was not really a problem.I have resolute my problem with help of some usenet users and website sites informations. After been read the file at /etc/X11/XFree86Config-4 with the command 'nano -w /etc/X11/XF86Config-4' there is noted that why can restart the configuration (like during installation) of XFree86 with the command 'dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86' there i have set up the good driver and this resolf the my problem. -- David Van Mosselbeen - DVM http://dvm.zapto.org:3333 -- Debian Sarge user |
