Hi,
I'm loading my first SCO openserver 507 system WITH update packs. My licence
manager looks like this:

My s/w manager looks like this:

yet when I try to load 507 Update 3 from an untarred file, I get

ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ Missing SCO Update License ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ» ¿
ºYou cannot install or load the products listed below because: º°³°
ºo Your SCO Operating System is not registered, º°³°
ºo You do not have a valid SCO Update Service Enabler license, or º°³°
ºo Your SCO Update Service Enabler license is not registered º°³°

SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.7 Update Pack 3 (ver 1.0.0Ia)

yet the OS and Update service are registered. Any ideas as to why the error?

You should have removed oss656 before installing any maintenance pack.
Try removing MP3, MP1 and oss656b, then install MP3. Try removing the
Update Serve license and reinstalling it. When it is correctly licensed,
you should also see, in the License manager,
OpenServer 5.0.7 Update Service UPDSVC000

That's weird, because I didn't *install* OSS656, at least not deliberately.
Anyway I will take your advice and see how it goes. Many thanks

Licence mgr doesn't show the OpenServer 5.0.7 Update Service UPDSVC000
despite uninstalling and reinstalling it. Update 3 still won't install. It's a
Not-For-Resale licence if that makes any difference - I sincerely hope it
wouldn't though. Any ideas?

ONLY AFTER you register this license with SCO do you then ALSO see
SCO OpenServer 5.0.7 Update Service UPDSVC00

OK can I just get this straight..... I just reinstalled from scratch. OS656B is
automatically installed along with Enterprise. So the first thing I should do is
get rid of it?

Just for the record. I never do.
There was a time early on, before MP1 or MP3 were out, but now I just
install the OS and then install MP3.

I have never installed UP<any> so I suppose it's possible that you need to
uninstall oss656 for that but I very much doubt it.
I haven't had any licensing problems with other types of licenses like more
users and SMP. Nor with applications that were affected when when the
licence manager wasn't patched (ctar in my case).
I don't know why UP should be any different.

I'm currently in the middle of an install-from-scratch. I've left oss656 on for
now, and the update licence and mp3 have installed fine. I've done *no*
configuring of our system onto this box yet, as I imagine something we do (lots
of stuff around keys, screens, shell variables /.profile etc) has caused this in
the first place. Next up is up3.....
