| I need to apply my permanent 5.0.7 license to my OpenServer Enterprise system (without reinstalling!!!!!). Currently, it is running the 5.0.7 60-DAY EVAL license (with 15-days left). I just received my permanent 5.0.7 license from the reseller. The problem is that my new license is a Trade-In from my old 5.0.5 license (I bought the 60-Day EVAL 5.0.7 to ensure our application was compatible, before committing to the full price of the Trade-In license). I believe the sequence of steps is: 1) Boot to single-user 2a) Remove the 5.0.7 EVAL license 2b) Add the 5.0.5 Full license 2c) Add the 5.0.7 Trade-In license 3) run: /etc/sco_pmd 4) Reboot (back to multi-user) The problem is that SCO WILL NOT confirm/deny this procedure without a support contract!!!!! Unbelieveable! They want me to pay for the instructions to apply the license I just bought from them (not cheap, by the way). My risk is that this is a production server, and if I *break* the license while attemping this, it will be a sad day indeed! -with thanks, Mike -- Posted via http://dbforums.com |

Why did it become a production server before being permanently licensed? That kind of procedure always worked for me with releases up to 5.0.6. It may or may not work on 5.0.7 -- I've not tried it. I'd go this route: run my savefiles script (at ftp.jpr.com), run a BackupEDGE or Lone-Tar Master Backup, re-install the OS. (I hope you do have more than the stand and root filesystems.) -- JP |
