Funny you should mention that. I was thinking this morning about bias. We all have it, but more intelligent people try to take their own biases into account when making decisions. That's not always easy, and that's particularly apt to be true when the bias is strong and has emotional components. Still, some of us try, and some of us even recognize when our bias makes it impossible for us to trust our own judgement on certain issues. You are totally unaware of your bias. You see only one side of the story, see only one possible outcome. There is no nuance or shading in your world: it's all raw emotion and single-minded thought. That's why Jeff (the other one) is embarassed by you, Brian. You are the tech equivalent of a KKK extremist, embarrassing his more enlightend neighbors. That's perhaps too strong an analogy: maybe you are opinionated boor who always shows up at a family party. Whatever - you can't see beyond your prejudices, and it is embarrassing that you claim membership in the Linux community. As is unfortunately all too common in the political world (and this is a political matter at its heart), you distort and lie about opponents positions. Rather than engage in intelligent discussions that have been offered, you opt for childish taunts, character assassination, misrepresentation, out of context quoting and other detestable tactics. You are an embarrassment, Brian. No doubt you'll demonstrate your immaturity and blind prejudice once again when you reply to this, right? -- Tony Lawrence http:/aplawrence.com/Lawsuit/ |
