| Hi all, I've got a PII server with OSR 5.0.5 on it. It's getting quite slow and I want to update the config. I see on a lot of threats PIV won't work without a patch only avaible since 5.0.6, but nobody is talking about AMD Sempron / Barton or XP or even big Cel D (2.8ghz for ex). Is there a way the OSR 5.0.5 will work on one of these chips ? Thanks, David |

Did someone try to install it on AMD recent chips ? Thanks. David |

| Hi all, I just tried to install SCO OSR 5.05 on an AMD Duron 1.8Ghz with the apps I'm running usually and it seems to be working just fine. I'll test it more deeply to see if everything is ok, and I'll tell you if something is wrong. Anyway that's quite good news Do you know what updates I should load ? Thanks, David |

I would be wary, but I haven't seen anything definitive one way or the other, so if I had to stick to 5.0.5, and dual P3 or dual P3-xeon wasn't good enough, (or I couldn't get smp for whatever reason), then I'd try a current AMD. As it happens, in that event I wouldn't use a Duron, but only for the same reasons I wouldn't use a Celeron, I would use whatever was the best 32bit AMD at the time. |
