| Hi all! I'm stuck with a rather stupid case: Someone in my company sold a hp dl360 G4 to be used with OpenServer. When I check the HCL lists on Sco, I cannot find any certifications on any versions for this machine. My questions are: - Is it possible at all to install OpenServer on this machine? - If yes: Do you have any advice/suggestions on this matter? I have done a few installations of OpenServer, but this has all been plain and easy ones, where everything was as planned. My guess is that there might be a method of loading 3party drivers at installation time if the install program doesn't recognize the hardware. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Regards |

It doesn't help that the CHWP lists post-merger HP Proliants under "Compaq" not "HP". > My questions are: > > - Is it possible at all to install OpenServer on this machine? I've installed OSR5 on various HP Proliant models without any great difficulty. I'd be optimistic. > - If yes: Do you have any advice/suggestions on this matter? Download the latest EFS for OpenServer from HP's website, read the readme :-) > I have done a few installations of OpenServer, but this has all been plain > and easy ones, where everything > was as planned. AFAIK G4 is newish so, prior to starting the install, I'd be careful to identify the components (SCSI, NIC & Graphics chipsets, Parallel/Serial/USB ports) and their settings (SCSI IDs, IRQs etc). You may have better luck checking the HCL (i.e. CHWP in SCO-speak) & newsgroups for *component* compatibility. |
