Default OSR6 Change Host SCSI Adapter

Hi,

Does anybody know how to change a host scsi adapter on a Openserver 6
installation?
I know on OSR 5 you used to be able to change the /etc/conf/cf.d/mscsi
file to suit the new adapter but the mscsi file does not exist in an
Openserver 6 installation.

Thanks
Oz

I would recommend a reinstall as its quicker, less complicated and less
prone to errors than trying to hack the kernel to add a new HBA, remove
the old one and make sure that the resmgr database is correct.

There is no guarantee that the new HBA will be able to read the disk
that is currently connected to the old HBA. This applied to OpenServer
5 also.

There is TA 126185, "How do I add and configure a new Host Bus Adapter to
my already installed OpenServer 6.0.0 system?".

This TA is fine if you want an *additional* host adapter (you installed
to IDE hard disk, now you want to add a SCSI tape), but John is pointing
out that changing the HA for the root drive isn't so simple if the old
and the new HAs want to address the drive with different notions of its
geometry.

I might have an internal SCO document which outlines some of the changes
you have to perform (on an UnixWare7 system) as to change the default
boot host SCSI Adapter.

Unfortunately I cannot post it here but if someone is interested I might
"grab some ideas" out of it and post them on the group.

Best,
Rob
